We have made some exciting new changes for the next oil season. Over the coming months, you will hear more about these new features and benefits.
One of these changes includes the addition of new ways to buy your oil for the next heating season.
Guaranteed Rate: This option allows you to “lock in” to a specific rate for the season. Once you lock in, you do not have to worry about changes in the market rates – your price is guaranteed and fixed for the season. You can choose to lock in from 30% to 80% of your expected consumption in 100 gallon increments, or 100% of your expected consumption- the choice is yours. Whichever option you choose you will not be required to prepay for the gallons you are committing for and will continue to pay for these gallons when delivered. There is a nominal fee for this service, but many oil consumers find this to be their preferred way of purchasing oil.
Cap Rate: A cap rate fluctuates just like the variable rate, but it also sets a guaranteed maximum amount that your per-gallon rate will not exceed. This prevents your costs from running up if rates increase more than you had anticipated, but also allows you to benefit if prices fall throughout the season. There is a 25 cent per gallon fee associated with this program to cover the cost of the option.
Variable Rate: This is how you currently purchase your oil from us. Under this option, you purchase oil throughout the season at our published daily rate. The price you pay for oil rises and falls with the market. If you are not worried about market volatility, this is an option to consider.
Next Steps: If you are not interested in the Guaranteed Rate or the Cap Rate, there is nothing you need to do. You will continue to receive your deliveries at the posted rate on the day of your delivery. If you are interested in the Guaranteed Rate or the Cap Rate, you can enroll anytime during the year by calling the office for details.
